History

An aquatic species occasionally seen at shorelines and rock pools.

Trivia

Individuals are around a yard in height at maturity.

A primarily aquatic taxonomy: individuals appear to frequent beach front shallows and tide pools.

The species eats molluscs and urchins. For some reason most leave anemone alone.

Most can be considered relatively harmless, excluding toxin-related factors.

These toxins can be fatal to other organisms, prompting outer caution.

A number seem to collect rocks, stacking stones variously when above the water.

The taxonomy features a degree of evident intelligence, although divides exist interactively.

Many are relatively withdrawn and often disappear into nearby water sources if confronted or provoked.

Individuals appear to be somewhat fast on land: using all limbs or only two for travel purposes.

Many are even faster in water, having an apparent affinity for it.

Individuals may dry out if above water for too long, meaning dependency on salt and otherwise fresh sources.

Saline differences do not appear to cause complication by far.

Occasionally specimens appear to attract fish, which can be a deterrent for such individuals. Remaining in one location seems to be often avoided.

Most are very quiet: almost silent vocally. However, they may squeak very rarely.
