Health

An understanding of multiple types of anatomy are prevalent among most trained physics.

Ailments are to an extent understood through the symptoms present. More frequent complications are often considered through local or traditional means, depending on cost and what supplies are available.

Various vaccines exist for widespread diseases. Cholera, rabies, tetanus, and further diseases among human and other populations are easily countered by prophylactics when available.

Antibiotics are difficult to obtain but have been utilised minutely. Side effects of tetracycline and penicillin from certain microbial and fungal sources are themselves complicative on occasion.

Antiseptics are readily available and are often used to disinfect locations to relative benefit.

Anesthetics and analgesics are varyingly limited in potency.

Chloral hydrate, phenazone, and the unrecommended trimethylamine are occasionally utilised when available.

On an extemporaneous basis, traditional methods may be used, relevant materials bolstered by magic to be more potent in dulling pain and other complications.

This is considered less hazardous than when synthesised materials are similarly influenced, medical logs and writings formally illustrating relevant cases.

It is considered illicit by most practitioners to mix artificial substances with influence for medicinal use.

Recorded Diseases

Wharf Rash | Traveller's Warning

Etymology of Common Name:
Despite broad-scale reports of the disease occurring as the disease spread through the populace, the earliest reports of this particular strain originated from certain docks, where shipments from other regions pass through.

Description:
A possible mutation of a common disease found along distanced swamp and marshland terrain, it is spread through both rodents and the insects found on those animals, aside from vectors potentially including flies and related species. Bites and scratches from rodents are uncommon, but other organisms they carry or may come into contact with are not as harmless.

Symptoms:
Pustules
Swollen lymph nodes
Severe rashes and resultant scars
Fever
Anemia
Infection of heart valves
Sores in the liver and spleen

Prognosis:
Due to the infection and inflammations commonly caused around internal organs, it can be difficult to treat without needed antibiotics, treatment still sometimes requiring possible surgery. Other symptoms are less serious and can be treated more readily, but can still cause complications for patients.

Cure:
Due to the rapidity of the disease in its spread within the timeframe it was recorded, and due to the lack of supplies necessary to treat cases, understanding of possible treatments, outside of antibiotic supplies, is relatively shallow.

Prevention:
Disinfection of any contaminated areas, surfaces, and items; the quarantine of infected persons is dubious in relative effectiveness.

Amaurosis Disease | Waxing Blindness

Etymology of Common Name:
The disease often causes loss of sight within a few days of contraction.

Description:
A frequent illness contracted by those who exist around certain parts of the countryside. Immediate counteraction is necessary to prevent lasting effects.

Symptoms:
Dizziness
Loss of vision
Headaches and migraines
Delirium
Inflammation of the nervous system
Pain when chewing or swallowing

Prognosis:
Due to the infection and inflammations commonly caused around internal organs, it can be difficult to treat without needed antibiotics. Other symptoms are less serious and can be treated more readily, but still cause complications for patients.

Cure:
Antibiotics are recommended immediately after diagnosis.

Prevention:
Disinfection of any contaminated areas, surfaces, and items; the quarantine of infected persons is dubious in relative effectiveness.
